Hirotaka Nifuji (二藤 宏嵩, Nifuji Hirotaka) is one of the main protagonists in Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii. He is the childhood friend and boyfriend of Narumi Momose whom he later marries in Vol.11 Ch.86.
Along with Narumi, Hirotaka also works at an unknown company with Hanako Koyanagi and Tarō Kabakura.
Appearance[]
Hirotaka is a tall and handsome young man with fair skin and blue eyes. He was described "very hot" by Hanako Koyanagi. He has a short bluish-black hair with bangs parted in the middle and a pair of black high spec glasses.

At home, he dresses casually; a long sleeve shirt and track pants.
Personality[]
Hirotaka is an unemotional individual, often having a deadpan expression and is rarely seen smiling. He is seen to be an extremely competitive and serious individual whenever he is gaming, which assumes that he excels in games. Similarly, he seems to be an efficient employee. In Volume 1 Chapter 1, he waits for Narumi Momose to finish her assigned work, commenting that he is able to finish his work earlier than Narumi despite given two times more paperwork.
He does not really care about maintaining an image. He is generally not afraid that others will find out that he is an otaku, unlike his girlfriend and senpai.
He does not have any problem socializing with people, but keeps to himself due to lack of interest in others. Hence, he does not have many friends.
He smokes and has a high tolerance for alcohol.
As often commented on by Narumi, Hirotaka prefers voluptuous women, ironic seeing as his girlfriend is not curvaceous at all. In a flashback chapter, Hirotaka is bothered upon spotting Narumi with an unknown boyfriend, and seeing his pierced ears, Hirotaka decides to pierce his own (although he immediately regrets it). He is not an emotional individual, so his indirect confession to Narumi when the pair eventually get together is considered to be a huge breakthrough in his otherwise stoic personality. Although he is not expressive in person, his text messages are filled with emoticons.
Background[]
Hirotaka is described as an otaku who is obsessed with video games. Although they are his main fixation, he also reads/watches a lot of manga and anime and collects figurines. Due to many years of gaming experience, he is very proficient in gaming. His love for games is intense, at one point even going as far to say to Narumi that without games, he'd die. His favorite genre of games is FPS, fighting, and action games. Narumi Momose was his first crush and he seems to have carried a torch for her ever since childhood.

Narumi Momose[]
Narumi is Hirotaka's childhood friend/crush and girlfriend. Narumi would often come over to Hirotaka's house to play games together. Hirotaka would do various changes to his appearance such as piercing his ears to impress Narumi, after he saw that Narumi's boyfriend has ear piercings. He also started smoking to impress Narumi at first but soon got addicted. After reuniting with Narumi at work, they both go for a drink at a bar. Later that evening he invited Narumi to become his "girlfriend", to which Narumi accepts immediately after Hirotaka said he would go with her to the comic event as her sales assistant. They are shown to care about each other a lot.
They are married as per Vol.11 Ch.86 (which now makes her Narumi Nifuji) and Narumi gives birth to a boy.
Unnamed son[]
He is the son of Hirotaka and Narumi Momose who was introduced in Vol.11 Ch.86 of the Wotakoi manga. Not much is know about him, but it is shown that he likes to play games with his father and loses to him every time.
Naoya Nifuji[]
Nao is Hirotaka's younger brother. In front of Naoya, hirotaka doesn't seem to care about him but in reality he cares a lot about him and is sometimes worried about it. Overall they have a very chill kind of relationship.
Kō Sakuragi[]
Ko is Naoya's girlfriend. Hirotaka is not seen interacting a lot with her but once Hirotaka told her that he is happy that she is Naoya's girlfriend which shows that he accepts her relationship with Naoya.
Tarō Kabakura[]
Kabakura is Hirotaka's reliable senpai at work who seem to have a good bond with him even outside their work. They often go out for drinks together and visit Hirotaka's house along with narumi and Kabakura.
Hanako Koyanagi[]
Hanako and Hirotaka are shown to have a friendly relationship and frequently go for drinks together (with Narumi Momose and Tarō Kabakura). They become closer after Hanako gives Hirotaka advice on a horror ride in Episode 9.
Etymology[]
- The name Hirotaka means "wide, large" (宏) (hiro) and "bulk" (嵩) (taka).
- Hirotaka's surname Nifuji means "two" (二) (ni) and "wisteria" (藤) (fuji).
Trivia[]
- Though both his ears are pierced, Hirotaka wears no earrings.
- In Episode 9, it is shown that Hirotaka isn't afraid of anything as seen when he didn't scream during a horror ride with Hanako Koyanagi.
- In Vol.11 Ch.86, after Narumi Momose gave birth to a boy, Hirotaka has stopped smoking.
